FAQ: Accounts and Passwords


What should I do if I forgot my password?

Contact the Tech Department if you need your password reset.  Student passwords can be reset by teachers and staff using a special student password reset utility.

How Can a New Staff Member Obtain a Login Account?

A new staff member must have their supervisor or another staff member request a new account to be created via an online work order.  The work order should include the following information in the request description: first and last name of the new staff member, title, and phone extension (if applicable).  

How Can I Change My Password?

First, log in to a computer with your current password.  Once logged in, press CTRL + ALT + DELETE on the keyboard at the same time.  Click the Change Password button.  Type your existing password in the Old Password box and a new password of your choosing in the New Password and Confirm New Password boxes.  Finally, click OK.

What Are the Requirements for Passwords?

Your password must be 8 characters in length.  You are able to use previous passwords if you wish.

Why Did I Get Locked Out of My Account?

An account lockout occurs automatically if 5 invalid login attempts are made within a 30 minute time period.  The lockout will automatically reset after 30 minutes.  

What Should I Do If I'm Locked Out?

If you need to regain access to your account right away during normal hours (M-F 7:30am-3:30pm), you can call extension 322 and ask for your account to be unlocked and your password to be reset if necessary.  If you get locked out of your account outside of normal hours, then you can wait 30 minutes and your account will automatically re-enable itself.

What Should I Do If I Cannot Log In?

First, check the spelling of your username and your password.  Make sure the CAPS LOCK key is not on.  If you still cannot log in, try logging in on another computer.  If you can log in somewhere else, then the computer you were originally using might have had a problem.  If you still have problems logging in on any computer, contact the Tech Department by calling extension 322 or have someone else near you submit a work order on your behalf. 

Is It Possible for a Teacher to Reset a Student's Password?

Yes, it is possible.  The teacher will need to have the password reset program installed on a computer in their classroom and must be set up with the appropriate access to reset passwords.  

Why Do I Get Kicked Out of My Account at 11:00 p.m.?

Some accounts may lose access to the servers at 11:00 p.m. due to a logon time restriction.  This was put into place in order to back up data an information on the servers.  In some cases, data cannot be backed up if it is being accessed.  So, in order to ensure backups are completing successfully each night, some accounts are automatically logged out.

I just got married and I want to change my accounts to reflect my new name.  What do I need to know and do?

Congratulations!  There are a few things you should consider before changing your account names.  
  • People who have your old email address from outside of EHOVE's network will need to update their address books and/or mailing lists.  
  • If you have business cards, you will have to reprint them to include your new email address.
If you are aware of the issues involved above and want to go forward with the change, just submit an online work order with your request, noting your new name.
